Bidirectional charging - i.e. charging and discharging the vehicle battery - opens up new and useful usage options for battery electric vehicles. The increasingly larger vehicle batteries offer the possibility in both private and commercial environments to use the battery capacity as buffer storage for locally generated renewable electricity. In this way, the idle times of the vehicles can be used sensibly and excess capacities of the regenerative sources - such as the daily peaks of the photovoltaic systems - can be stored according to the usage requirements and thus used locally. In the future, control energy aspects will also gain in importance.
